From one fashion fanatic to the next.
Here’s this month’s Dresscode:
Think rich colors. Smooth textures. I’ll even go as far as saying Khaite-esque.
Thankfully, we are saying goodbye, farewell, and good riddance to summer (summer herself did absolutely nothing wrong, I actually quite like her- but her fashion choices are, to put it quite frankly, questionable). I know it seems like I do not appreciate summer in all of her glory. It also seems as though every year I have to brace myself from June-August because the fashion is so incredibly underwhelming. It may possibly look like I hate summer color palettes and hate summer silhouettes even more. Truth be told, I could either lie and make like I like fashion in all its shapes and forms (including summer), or I can be authentic and own up to 1. Not appreciating summer in ALL of her glory 2. Finding summer fashion incredibly underwhelming 3.Hating summer color palettes and summer silhouettes even more. Well, after that rant I think it's safe to say we went with option B
With all that said, I like to think of summer fashion as the storm before the rainbow- the rainbow being fall fashion. Every year I wait patiently for the 21st night of September (shoutout Earth, Wind, and Fire) so that my fall wardrobe is in full effect. Fall is the coziest season in my personal, humble, only correct, never wrong opinion. I can go into the various reasons why fall tops my seasons list, but I will just go with the elephant in the room: the fashion.
Firstly, I absolutely love fall tones, they are warm and inviting, and naturally look luxe. Now take my ideal color palette, and add in a sprinkle of layering and I think we might just have a masterpiece. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again mastering the art of layering is not an easy feat- understanding dimensions, silhouettes, and textures is the superpower of a masterful layerer. Now let’s backtrack to my little rant about summer fashion- I already admitted that the summer color palette is not my cup of tea, but if the color palette stood alone I do see myself being able to turn a blind eye. My problem stems from the fact that layering is almost completely off the table. Layering is what gives an outfit an edge, it’s what brings it to life, it makes it two dimensional. Our October 2024 Dresscode is a key element when layering and she gets bingo points for coming in all shapes, sizes, and silhouettes. I may or may not have gone on a tangent or two in attempts to introduce our newest it girl so without further ado our October 2024 DressCode: Brown Suede (faux brown suede works too)
Suede is such a luscious material, she is not trying too hard to get peoples’ attention but their eyes do naturally gravitate towards her. She piques people’s interest when she steps into a room and she works overtime to provide us with all the fall feels.
Brown is very similar to suede in the sense that she is naturally interesting. She is and will always be classified as a neutral but she is more interesting than her first cousin once removed black. She does not try to deviate from fashion as she knows it, instead she struts through the paved pathway.
Brown is a showstopper on her own. Suede is a showstopper on her own. You can only imagine how much more powerful they are together. I applaud them for partnering up this month- I love seeing girl bosses do their thing.
Anyways let’s discuss some ways to incorporate Brown Suede into your fall wardrobe:
A chocolate brown suede blazer, crisp white tee, dark denim mini skirt, brown loafers- model off duty
A cashmere sweater, russet suede shorts, cowboy boots, tortoise sunnies- hot & she knows it
An ash brown suede top, straight leg jeans, kitten heels, a chic shoulder bag- hot & she doesn’t know it
A tan suede overshirt, matching suede pants, tank top, brown sneakers- girl on the move
As always we linked pieces for you to shop the trend (go to the brown suede tab and clock on the images to be redirected to their website).
We’ll see you next month ;)
