Before we jump into our usual antics, it would be unbecoming of us to not wish you a happy new year. Although we do not believe in New Year’s resolutions, (because if you want to implement a change the new year should not spur that, do it whenever wherever) we do encourage you all to make smart fashion choices and to remember fashion is subjective and an art form. It’s as simple as that. Now let’s start 2025 off right-
From one fashion fanatic to the next.
Here’s this month’s Dresscode:
Think Blair Waldorf core. Private-school uniform. I’ll even go as far as saying Ralph-Lauren-esque. If you’re an avid Gossip Girl watcher, I would presume you are amongst the fashion lovers of the world. When thinking of this month’s Dresscode, Rina and I decided that we have to go back to our fashion roots, we have to backtrack to when we both fell in love with clothing and when we both started having our sense of style. For both of us, that is when we began to watch Gossip Girl- we were instantly intrigued with each character’s style and how the clothing they wore represented their characteristics. Aside from that, each wardrobe piece was evidently hand-picked and helped make the show a fashion fanatic's dream (No, this is actually not a research paper on the cultural significance Gossip Girl had on fashion, but it might as well be). The moral of the story is there is a common theme that drew us to the fashion in this show and that theme has resurfaced as our January 2025 it girl. We plan to start the year off strong, and there is no better way to do that than to pay homage to the queen of chic herself: Queen B. With all that said, we present to you our January 2025 Dresscode: Preppy Chic.
This is new for us. We never really picked an “aesthetic” as the Dresscode because we prefer to narrow it down a bit more than that. While all that is true, we could not help ourselves this month and decided there is a first for everything. Being preppy is about embodying someone polished and poised (or at least looks it), while also incorporating your sense of self. Some people gravitate towards the headband and a pleated skirt, while others prefer a poplin button-down and cardigan- both are acceptable.
Now let’s break down some Preppy Chic outfits:
Tailored trousers, collared rugby shirt, loafers, simple eyeglasses- anywhere and everywhere
A pleated skirt, a poplin button down, tights, a matching tie- chilton express
A turtleneck sweater, cardigan (preferably Ralph Lauren), a classy belt, kitten heels- day-to-night
As always, we linked pieces for you to shop the trend (click on the preppy chic tab and click on the pictures to be redirected to their website.)
We’ll see you next month ;)
