From one fashion fanatic to the next.
Here’s this month’s Dresscode:
Before I start with my usual banter, I would like to formally congratulate me, myself, and I (and I guess Rina too). For what you may ask? Well even if you didn't ask, you know I can't help myself. Anyways, today marks the official first anniversary of The Dresscode Blog. 1 year of trends. 1 year of pictures. 1 year of blog posts. 1 year of me randomly getting overwhelmed. 1 year of Rina editing until god knows what hour. 1 year of bickering over the next trend. 1 year of trying to make an Instagram look aesthetically pleasing. 1 year of late-night photoshoots in Rina’s basement. 1 year of laughing so hard that our heads almost blew off. And most importantly 1 year of a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious friendship (Rina-I’m talking about you and me).
Now that I’m done going down memory lane let’s get back to business as usual.
Think Pinterest chic. Sporty cool. I’ll even go as far as saying Gola-esque. For a while now, Rina and I kept coming back to this trend, but for whatever reason, we couldn’t quite commit to her. In hindsight, I truly do regret not going with our gut when this trend was initially introduced because I do feel as though she was a very prominent character in the fashion world this year. Our favorite trends are not only fun but are universally accepted, meaning they work in any and every season. Granted, the beauty of fashion is that it changes with the season, but being steadfast in the ever-changing world of fashion never hurts anyone.
I always had somewhat of a shoe fetish. Some people are bag people. Some people are jewelry people. Some people are exactly like me, and their eyes naturally gravitate to the shoe rack or shoe tab when shopping. If you’re option C (we’d probably get along), I have a feeling September 2024 is your time to shine. I don’t know if I can continue with the small talk any longer I’m a little excited to introduce our next it girl. So without further ado September 2024 Dresscode: Colored Sneakers.
I want to emphasize (yet again) that colored sneakers have been trending for a bit BUT they’re not going anywhere. Sometimes it girls die down or become passé over time. Not our beloved colored sneakers. I love it when a shoe can do the thinking for you or add an extra level of flair when you’re not in the mood to experiment any further. There’s no better feeling than putting your shoes on and watching the entire outfit come to life and that’s exactly what the colored sneaker does. We can call it the colored sneaker effect.
Enough with my yapping- let’s see how to incorporate the colored sneaker into this month’s wardrobe.
A white T-shirt, baggy jeans, a red baseball cap, red Aloha sneakers (a red cardigan for bonus points)- matchy matchy
A mini skirt, a cute sweater, shoulder bag, ankle socks, light blue Adidas Sambas- cutesy chic
An oversized blazer, straight-leg jeans, a chunky scarf, green Gola sneakers- business on top party on bottom
A white tank (shoutout Aug 2024), long denim shorts, cool sunnies, yellow Onitsuka Tigers- the IT girl
As always we linked some pieces for you to shop the trend (go to the colored sneakers tab and click on the images to be redirected to their website).
We’ll see you next month ;)
Cheers to 1 year Dresscode fam.
